The Fascinating World of Amoebae
Flabellinia Smirnov, Nassonova, Berney, Fahrni, Bolivar et Pawlowski 2005
Flattened generally fan-shaped, discoid or irregularly triangular, never with pointed subpseudopodia or centrosomes.

1.0. Dactylopodida Smirnov, Nassonova, Berney, Fahrni, Bolivar et Pawlowski 2005
Flattened locomotive form as irregular triangle with basement directed forward; wide anterior hyaloplasm; hyaline subpseudopodia finger-like (i.e. dactylopodia) emerge from the edge of the hyaline cytoplasm; parasomes in Paramoeba and Neoparamoeba; without fibrous axial cores both in dactylopodia and in the floating pseudopodia; cell coat consists of scales, glycostyles or amorphous, sometimes with hair-like structures.

1.1. Paramoebidae (Poche 1913) Kudryavtsev, Pawlowski et Hausmann 2011
Flattened dactylopodial amoebae with blunt, hyaline subpseudopodia, conical or finger-shaped in outline. Cell coat consists of microscales, dense amorphous glycocalyx that may include hair-like structures, or dome-shaped glycostyles with hexagonal bases.

1.1.1. Korotnevella Goodkov 1988
Amoebae with finger-like subpseudopodia (dactylopodia). The entire amoeba is covered with disc-shaped (hat-like scales) or basket scales; these scales are often present in combination with smaller dish-shaped scales. No parasome.

1.1.2. Paramoeba Schaudinn 1896
Locomotive form elongate, producing a few short conical pseudopodia from anterior hyaline zone and one to three long narrowly conical pseudopodia. Surface covered wit glycostyles consisting of short hexagonal basal region and domed distal region or dish-shaped uniform scales. With parasome.

1.1.3. Pseudoparamoeba (Page 1979) Udalov 2016
Locomotive form elongate, producing a few short conical pseudopodia from anterior hyaline zone and one to three long narrowly conical pseudopodia. Surface covered wit truncate glycostyles consisting of short hexagonal basal region and domed distal region or dish-shaped uniform scales. No parasome.

1.2. Vexilliferidae Page 1987, emend. Kudryavtsev et al. 2011
Elongated attened amoebae of acanthopodial morphotype, with one or more long, slender, hyaline sub-pseudopodia, rarely formed in some species. Cell coat consisting of delicate glycostyles that can be prismatic with hexagonal cross-section, or t-shaped in vertical section.

2.0. Vannellida Smirnov et al. 2005
Locomotion as fan-shaped to spatulate cell; without discrete pseudopodia or subpseudopodia; wide anterior hyaloplasm up to half of the cell; posterior granuloplasm concentrated in a “hump”.

2.1. Vannellidae Bovee 1979

2.2. Vannella Bovee 1975
Small amebae, usually less than 75 / long in locomotion; broadly spatulate to triangulate in moderate locomotion, and fan-shaped in rapid locomotion with broad border anterior; anterior one-fourth to one-half of the body length in locomotion of clear protoplasm as a fan-like border extending bilaterally in rapid advance; body mass granular, ovoid to sub-spherical, behind clear margin in locomotion.
