Naked plasmodium with finely branched filopodia and yellowish-green or yellowish-brown plastids and multiple vesicular nuclei. Cells can form one or more aplanospores with a cellulose cyst wall. The species Penardia mutabilis Cash 1904 seems to be identical with Chlamydomyxa labyrinthuloides Archer 1875.
